In this “Meet the Team” series we will get to know some of the Yorkshire Rams playing and coaching staff, this week it’s your Youth and Junior Head Coach and Rams All-Time leading rusher, Justin Lester.

What is your greatest personal achievement? 6 TDs in one game 2001 National Rushing Title for Division 2 (equivalent to Division 1 today) Being the Rams all-time rusher 250 yards against Dundee Plus never having lost a game to Doncaster Mustangs 😉

What is your greatest achievement with the Rams? Reaching 2002 National Division 2 final as a player and reaching 2014 Youth National finals as a coach

Any advice for this year’s rookies? Train and play hard. It’s always difficult to be noticed in your first season so volunteer for everything and always be ready to go on the field. Also, listen to the coaches - technique is massively important and if you’re going to do something wrong, at least do it wrong giving 100%.

How about advice for any youngsters aspiring to play senior football? Stay in Junior football as long as you can. Senior football is a huge step up and you need to be ready for it.

What do you eat the evening before a game? Potatoes, pasta etc.

What would you say is your biggest inspiration? Don’t have one, self motivated.
