Floodlit football awaits as 2017 fixtures revealed

Fri Mar 10 2017

Preparations for the new season are ramping up, with the Yorkshire Rams’ pre-season training camp followed this week by the announcement of this season’s fixtures.

And the great news for Rams fans is that our first four games of the summer will be at home at John Charles Stadium, starting with the visit of the Newcastle Vikings on Sunday, April 16.

The West Coast Trojans are our next visitors the following week, with the Doncaster Mustangs and Newcastle Vikings following on May 14 and June 4 respectively.

Our first two away trips are to Manchester and Doncaster on June 11 and 25, with one of the highlights of our schedule next up.

The Titans come to south Leeds on July 1 for a floodlit Saturday evening match, a new development for the Rams and one which should see a great atmosphere and spectacle as well as a competitive match-up.

The regular season concludes with three games on successive Sundays, away to Manchester, the Trojans and Newcastle on July 16, 23 and 30, and we will hope to extend it to five straight games by qualifying for the NFC1 North play-offs - the quarter-finals and semi-finals take place on the first two Sundays of August, with the final on the 27th.

Tickets for our home games are still priced at £5 for adults, with free entry for under-16s accompanied by a paying adult.

To prepare for all of this, the Rams spent last weekend at Silverwood Scout Camp on the outskirts of Barnsley for two days of intensive training and team bonding.

Both offence and defence made great strides across the weekend, despite the filthy weather making conditions difficult. Our thanks go to the staff at Silverwood, and also to Kayleigh and Spencer Whybrow for organising the trip.

With a little over five weeks to go, we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Vikings game!
