Coach Pawson previews West Coast clash

Fri Apr 08 2016

As the Yorkshire Rams prepare for the season opener against West Coast Trojans this Sunday, head coach David Pawson gives us his thoughts on the game:

“Looking back, last season was not what anyone within the team was hoping for or envisaged before the season started. As a club and coaching staff we knew it was a rebuilding year and we are confident the foundation has been laid to take the team forward this year.

“Since the final whistle in Sheffield last year the committee and coaching staff have been busy putting in place everything that we believe will be necessary for a successful season. Recruitment of experienced players and the addition of some athletic talent in the new rookies has been added and blended with last season’s team. New offensive, defensive and special teams playbooks have been added to give the team a new focus and vision for the season.

“A major change within the club has seen the team move back into South Leeds Stadium, a lot of work has been done by the committee in the off-season. The end result is that the team has a home stadium to match its ambition for the years to come.

“Now that the pre-season has been completed its is time for the coaches and players to step up and deliver on the field of play.

“This weekend we welcome to the stadium the West Coast Trojans, led by their head coach Gary McNey. After an impressive season last year they have been rewarded with promotion. The game has the potential to be a classic, and we look forward to meeting them on the field.”
