Interceptions were the order of the day as the secondary simply did not allow Doncaster to move the ball in the first half - it was almost half-time before the visitors even had the ball in the Rams’ half of the field, by which time they were already 28-0 down.

Chris Peel’s second running touchdown of the afternoon added to the score and, though the Mustangs salvaged some pride with two late scores, the Rams completed a second successive win in comfortable fashion.

Lewsley’s early interception set the tone and the Rams’ offence were quick to take advantage as Taylor Umland found Christian Davies for the opening touchdown.

And the pattern soon repeated itself as Lewsley again came up with the ball and on the very next play, Umland threw deep for receiver Chris Winrow to get his name on the scoresheet.

Chris Lawton joined in the fun with yet another interception, still in the first quarter, but this time both teams went on to trade three-and-outs.

Peel ran in the Rams’ third score in the second quarter and there was a golden opportunity for another after a blocked punt, but this time it was the visiting D who came up with a pick.

Normal service was soon resumed, though, as Tyler Broad went even better than his colleagues in the defensive backfield, adding to his highlight reel of interception scores to make it 28-0.

That was how it stayed at half-time, Lewsley rounding off the second quarter with yet another pick.

Broad continued to impress defensively in the third quarter, which also saw some lively running by Keimar Stuart but no addition to the score.

Peel’s second touchdown made it 34-0 before the Mustangs finally got on the board in the last five minutes after some good running by Quarterback Sam Foulds.
